Owner Michele Brooks is an avid indoor cyclist and has been participating in cycling classes for the past 8 years. A former elementary teacher, Michele decided to become a certified group cycling instructor while raising her three boys. She has always been very passionate about exercise. After teaching for a year, Michele started exploring the possibility of opening her own studio and bringing her passion for cycling and exercise to others. She looks forward to helping people feel better and reach their fitness goals.
Brenda has spent most of her life staying active and fit. She started teaching group fitness classes during college back in 1990. She came to love indoor cycling and became a certified instructor 4 years ago. She then became a certified indoor cycling trainer so she could help others achieve their goals of becoming indoor cycling instructors.
As a certified group fitness instructor she has lead a variety of other fitness classes as well. Her passion is to encourage, motivate, support, and coach others in achieving their optimal fitness levels. She is currently a Certified Personal Trainer which gives her the privilege of working one-on-one with individuals creating for them fitness programs specifically designed to guide them in achieving all of their fitness goals. She has a special interest in diabetes prevention, nutrition, and women’s health and wellness.
Gail has been practicing and teaching yoga for the past 35 years in the Gig Harbor and Tacoma area. The past 10 years she taught club yoga in Tacoma and now, in her home town, studio yoga at Harbor Fit. She received her RYT 200hr. in 2006 from YogaFit. Gail says, “I have lived with severe scoliosis since childhood. Yoga helps me align and keep my spine and body flexible and active. I have had the pleasure to teach to the elderly, high school students, and people with special health issues, knowing that through the practice of yoga
the mind can be calmed, the spirit uplifted, and the body brought to new levels of flexibility, alignment, and strength.”
Katie teaches multi-level yoga classes at community fitness centers in the Gig Harbor area. She discovered yoga during a period of illness in 2010 and was pleasantly surprised by how much it improved her chronic lung condition, overall fitness, and quality of life. Her classes are informed by this experience and her subsequent training through Yogafit, a training designed to make yoga accessible to everyone, not just the super-fit. Her teaching style incorporates flowing series of poses that link breath with motion, thoughtful consideration of her students’ abilities, and gentle guidance in healthy body alignment.
Deborah is a graduate of Yoga Fit Teacher Training Program and a certified YMCA Pilates instructor. She found the love for Yoga in 2003 through its simplicity, show up, come to the mat and practice, practice. She teaches by the philosophy of listening to the body, and letting go of competition, judgment and expectations. “Accept who you are and where your body is today.”
Her practice is rooted in Hatha, promoting the mind/body connection, along with challenging herself physically and mentally while also healing her body. You’ll leave the class feeling lengthened, strengthened and rejuvenated. “We teach what we most want to learn and so it is I teach Yoga.”
Cindy has been involved in the fitness industry for the past 15 years. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Wellness with a focus on sports fitness and nutrition, completing multiple course and certifications in this field. Most recently, she began teaching TRX and a Spin Circuit class at Harbor Fit, as well as consulting various clients in nutrition and fitness regimens. Prior to that, she trained youth sports teams, young athletes and group fitness classes at various locations in Gig Harbor. She is passionate about the balance between exercise and nutrition through lifestyle changes to a healthier individual. She believes in balancing exercise and eating well every day, focusing on a healthy lifestyle rather than a quick fix to achieve your exercise and fitness goals.
